Embarking on a Journey of Educational Excellence
2004
The Birth of CFAL
It all started with a vision in 2004, when Severine Rosario's quest for quality science education for her second son led to the inception of the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL). She yearned for an institution that was not hundreds of miles away, unlike the traditional coaching institutes, but right here in Mangalore; a center that would not only harness the potential of young minds but also provide opportunities for those who lacked them. By its first batch in 2008, CFAL had already begun its tradition of guiding students towards the top colleges in India. By 2009, CFAL had emerged as a beacon of excellence, transforming from a humble setup in a home into a cornerstone for science enthusiasts.
2013
The Growth of CFAL
As our family of learners grew, so did our space. In 2013, with the launch of the Enquiry Learning Centre (ELC), we transitioned to a larger space to nurture the curious and young minds. With nearly no reliance on marketing, by 2016, we proudly crossed the 500-student mark, a testament to our quality of education. Responding to the calls of our supportive parent community, we established a full-fledged school in 2020 and by 2023, expanded our campus to continue our commitment to innovation and educational excellence. We moved our 9th to 12th-grade students to a newly constructed campus, meticulously designed with sustainability at its core. This state-of-the-art facility was built with zero waste objectives in mind, reflecting our commitment to environmental stewardship and the well-being of future generations.
2013
The Establishment of ELC
By 2013, as our own family grew with two children, we faced a personal educational dilemma. We searched tirelessly for a kindergarten that upheld the true Montessori spirit and embodied the innovative approaches of educational forerunners like John Holt, Reggio Emilia, The Waldorf School, and Jiddu Krishnamurti. Finding none that met our aspirations for a genuine and nurturing learning space, we decided to create our own. This led to the establishment of ELC on our family property, forging a sanctuary for early learning that deeply respects and nurtures each child’s innate curiosity and individuality. In 2016, we celebrated the inauguration of ELC’s first campus—a vibrant and engaging space where children could meaningfully interact with the world in a joyful and exploratory manner.
2017
Establishment of CFAL PU College
In a significant stride towards comprehensive education, 2017 marked the establishment of the CFAL PU colleges. Recognizing the need for an environment that emphasizes mastery of subjects while simultaneously preparing students for national level exams, we created a space that harmonizes intensive learning with in-depth understanding. Our PU colleges stand as an embodiment of our commitment to fostering a robust knowledge base in our students, ensuring they are well-prepared for future academic and professional challenges.
2020
Establishment of IGCSE Primary School
In 2020, when we were keen to extend the Montessori method into primary education and integrate the best Singaporean science and math curriculum, we started offering the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) from grades 1 to 8. This innovative approach blended seamlessly with our Montessori philosophy, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for our primary students.

CFAL and ELC are more than just academic institutions; they are parts of an integrated ecosystem that includes a library, a café, and a field lab/dormitory, fostering a culture of self-learning, discussion, and hands-on experience. Our environment is one that encourages collaboration, exploration, and the development of a profound connection with nature.

The road ahead is filled with ambitious projects: an undergraduate science honors program, a wellness center, an observatory, and residential facilities for our community. Our vision is to craft a holistic educational landscape where academic prowess meets personal growth and well-being.
